JOIN DADE LEGAL AID DURING NATIONAL VOLUNTEER MONTH
April is National Volunteer Month! Join Dade Legal Aid and help us provide critical, holistic civil legal services to vulnerable Miami-Dade County residents with nowhere else to turn to for help. Our staff of attorneys and paralegals are located in Homestead, Cutler Ridge, Hialeah, Caleb Center and Downtown where we serve the Elderly, Children, Persons with Disabilities, Veterans, and Victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence, Dating Violence, Stalking and Repeat Violence. Dade Legal Aid - Put Something Back screens and process hundreds of clients online and by phone for those who are unable to travel to an office. To meet the growing needs, Put Something Back offers CLE training seminars and workshops year-round for volunteer lawyers who agree to accept pro bono cases. Areas of greatest need are Family Law, Guardianship, Child and Teen Advocacy, Domestic Violence, Probate, Immigration, Housing, Bankruptcy and Consumer Law. Join us at our upcoming events on May 24 for our 31st annual Nuts and Bolts of Divorce Family Law Seminar at the Lawson Family Courthouse and on June 9 at the annual Bankruptcy Conference at UM Law. In addition to recruitment and training of pro bono lawyers, Put Something Back Pro Bono Project offers rewarding opportunities for attorneys and law firms to serve through projects we have created over the years: Wills on Wheels, 100% Law Firms, Hurricane Relief, Bankruptcy Clinics, Teen Trafficking Pro Bono Project, Habitat for Humanity, Legal Clinics for Creatives, Venture Law Project, Domestic Violence Pro Bono Project, Patent Pro Bono, Veterans Affairs, Self Help Clinics and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.
Dade Legal Aid's commitment to the community is evidenced by its ongoing presence in the community. The team springs forward each year to go above and beyond to serve the unmet legal needs of the less fortunate utilizing staff attorneys, law firm partnerships, pro bono attorney volunteers, mentors, law school clinics and collaborations with dozens of diverse voluntary bar associations and supporting organizations. Thanks to the combined efforts of staff attorneys and Put Something Back Pro Bono Project the agency obtained over $4,000,000 in benefits for clients last year and is able to serve hundreds of additional new clients each year.
