Managing Attorney
Mr. Brown joined Dade Legal Aid in 1998 as a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow while attending St. Thomas University School of Law. Upon graduation, in 2000, he was hired as a Project Attorney in the Put Something Back Pro Bono Project where he zealously coordinated client intake and referrals, seminars, pro se clinics, and a variety of projects including Wills on Wheels, Disaster Relief, and Habitat for Humanity. In 2001, he joined the Domestic Violence Department and managed Dade Legal Aid’s new Domestic Violence Outreach Office in Miami Beach, the first of its kind, where he successfully represented hundreds of petitioners seeking permanent injunctions at their domestic violence hearings. In 2003, he became a member of the Family Law Department representing qualifying low-income residents ever since with complex Divorce, Custody, Time-Sharing, Paternity, Domestic Violence and Support cases. As the Managing Attorney of the Family Law department, he oversaw a growing team of professionals dedicated to improving the lives of low-income residents with nowhere else to turn to for assistance in all aspects of family law. A true leader a collaborator, Mr. Brown is currently the Managing Attorney of the Put Something Back Pro Bono Project where he is responsible for supervising more than a dozen staff members, trains and supports the project attorneys and administrative staff, and mentors countless pro bono attorneys handling cases, while continuing to handle his own cases for family law and other clients in need of assistance.
